Who are we?
Seed Robotics is a European company, founded in 2015, specializing in Robotic Solutions for Research, mainly in the areas of artificial intelligence, neuroscience, psychology, and cognitive science.
Our goal is to empower researchers with the tools that will allow us, one day, to truly live with robots in our lives.
Our latest addition is our new FTS Tactile Pressure sensor range that unleashed new possibilities by adding high-resolution tactile force sensing (1mN). These sensors can be embedded in our hands or used stand-alone.
Having relocated in 2020 to Lisbon, Portugal, we found a vibrant technological community and a new - much larger - workspace, which has greatly improved our creativity and manufacturing possibilities.
Marco Prata
Co-founder, Hardware Scientist
Marco has joined the Robotics scene in 2010 after gathering experience in a comprehensive range of technologies.
Since founding Seed Robotics his role is researching new and innovative approaches to humanoid robot hands and robots.
His most recent endeavour have been the new FTS tactile pressure sensors, which have given our hands the ability to “sense” the world in much greater detail.
Pedro Ramilo
Co-founder, Lead Software Architect
Mecanno was possibly his first love. Pedro’s first contact with [Humanoid] Robotics was back in 2007 when the Robotis Bioloid Humanoids were quite popular, pretty much in all areas (research, competition and hobby).
He lives “in between” the hardware and software, likes AVR assembly, C, and .Net (“oh the heresy!”, he’s often told).
His latest work is researching the move of more components to the ARM architecture for improving scalability, control frequency and throughput.
Just like a fine wine, he’s learned to love ROS. (not that the wine loves ROS, but one learns to love fine wines as well)
They’re joined by a team that’s as passionate as any of them.
That’s the great thing about Robotics: it captures everyone’s imagination. And making it real, makes it even better.
